 | Parking freeze for first hour welcomed |
 |
Sheryll Murray, Conservative Prospective MP for South East Cornwall, is delighted at the news that first hour parking in South East Cornwall is recommended to remain at 20p.
Cornwall Council Cabinet Parking Policy Advisory Panel decided to recommend freezing charges for the first hour at the present rate and increase other charges by 5%.
Sheryll had written to Council Leader Alec Robertson making the case for keeping the first hour rate at 20p in town centre car parks throughout the former Caradon District after meeting with Saltash Chamber of Commerce earlier this month.
Sheryll says, "I am delighted the Councillors have taken this decision and hope their recommendation will be accepted by the Cabinet. Our Town Centre Businesses, like other businesses throughout South East Cornwall, are struggling in the current economic climate. Conservatives have made clear announcements about how they will help them in Government. This decision will help them in the interim period. I congratulate and thank Cornwall Councillors from all Political Parties for working together on this."
