Mustoe urges Cornwall Council to think again on toilet strategy

James Mustoe, Cornwall Councillor for Mevagissey has, following the publication of data on the it's your Convenience consultation has today called upon Cornwall Council to urgently review its funding of public toilets. In a motion that will go before Cornwall Council at its next scheduled Full Council meeting of 24th November, James asks,

While there is an on going public discussion on climate change that needs more scientific input and greater participation, a clear development in recent years has been the rise in the numbers of people prepared to do something about climate change.

A30 Dualling from Carnon Cross to Chiverton Cross gets the go ahead from the Chancellor

Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne has today given the go ahead for at least £100 million of funding to upgrade the single carriageway section of the A30 between Chiverton and Carland Cross to a dual, two lane carriageway. This is in addition to the Temple to Higher Carblake section that has already been funded between central and local government.

Sarah Newton welcomes Government funding to secure Cornwall to London air link

The public service obligation (PSO) will continue a link which contributes millions of pounds to the Cornwall and South West economies. The government is providing £2.5 million in addition to £300,000 from Cornwall Council. Three flights each way will take place during the week with two weekend rotations. Around 100,000 passengers use the route every year for work or leisure. Flybe will operate the flights with the timings providing a convenient schedule for a full working day at either destination.A crucial transport link between the South West and London has been secured after the Department for Transport announced a four year funding deal for flights between Newquay and London Gatwick airport.

Cornwall Council Budget - Sarah Newton MP

This week Cornwall Council announced its spending plans from 2015 to 2019. Over recent months I have joined others in calling for the Council to focus its plans on providing services in a new way, based around working in partnership with other organisations, whilst delivering support for the most vulnerable members of our community. I am pleased to say that the Council has to some extent heeded our calls.
